Jorge Macchi (b.1963, Argentina)

Jorge Macchi (1963) was born in Buenos Aires and studied art at the National School of Fine Arts in Buenos Aires. He shows regularly since 1989, participated in residency programs in France, Holland, the United Kingdom, Italy and the United States. In 2007 he had a monographic show at the Santander Cultural in Porto Alegre as part of the Mercosur Biennial 2007, curated by Gabriel Pérez Barreiro. This exhibition travelled to the Blanton Museum of Art in Austin and the Centro Gallego de Arte Contemporáneo in Santiago de Compostela. In 2000, he received the Prize Banco de la Nación Argentina and in 2001 he received the Guggenheim fellowship. He took part in the Biennials of Sao Paulo, Istambul, La Habana, Porto Alegre,Venice and Yokohama and represented Argentina at the 52nd Venice Biennial in 2005. In January 2011 he had a solo exhibition at the SMAK, Contemporary Art Museum in Ghent, Belgium.
