Thiago Rocha Pitta (b.1980, Brazil)

A multimedia artist, Pitta develops works searching for the intimate relationship with nature. He was rewarded with the Marcantonio Vilaça award, in 2005, and Open Your Mind award, in Switzerland, in 2009. In 2011, he participated of the exhibition The Garden of Forking Paths Sculpture Project, an outdoor sculpture project at the Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst (Switzerland). The same year, he was one of the three Brazilian artists to display works in the special section Solo Projects Latino America, at the ARCO 2011, in Madrid, and he held an individual exhibition at the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil – CCBB-RJ (Brazil).

Among his most prominent individual exhibitions are Notas de um Desabamento (Parque Lage, Rio de Janeiro) in 2010, A Rocky Mist at Meyer Riegger in Karlsruhe (Germany) in 2009, Notes on an Inland Shipwreck  at Andersen Comtemporary in Berlin (Germany) in 2008, SCAI X SCAI  at  Arts Initiative Tokyo in Tokyo (Japan) in 2007, Uma Trilogia at Pavilhão Ascensão at the Vale do Anhangabaú in São Paulo (Brazil) in 2007, Heritage at Andersen Comtemporary in Copenhagen (Denmark) in 2006, Fonte at Museu de Arte da Pampulha in Belo Horizonte (Brazil) in 2002, Homenagem a William Turner at Espaço Cultural Sergio Porto in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) in 2001 and A Cópula e os Espelhos at Castelinho do Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) in 2001. He took part of collective exhibitions, such as Nova Arte Nova at Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil – CCBB-RJ (Brazil)in 2008, A Time Frame at PS1-MoMA in New York (USA) in 2006, and J’en Rêve at Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain in Paris (France) in 2005. He participated of the 5th Mercosul Biennial (Porto Alegre, Brazil, 2005). He entered the shortlist of the EFG Bank & ArtNexus Acquisition Award Nomination 2011.
