Delson Uchoa (b.1956, Brazil)

Delson Uchôa is one of the most original painters on the contemporary art scene, both in Brazil and internationally. His enormous works capture the light and vivid colors of Brazil's most extreme regions. His enormous works - some more than 10 metres wide and often the result of constant and meticulous re-working - capture the blinding light and vivid colours of his Brazilian homeland. Uchoa also employs a variety of innovative and unusual techniques to create his monumental works - for example, his painting Xadres de Chao was the result of a three year process that included covering the interior of his home with resin, painting it, and peeling it off to create a workable material.
