Marcelo Moscheta (b.1976, Brazil)

Marcelo Moscheta is an artist based in Campinas, Brazil.

Marcelo Moscheta is a travelling artist that perceives his trips as a way to collect elements and to rebuild cartographies through places that are not his own, like the romantics of the 19th Century or the Great Explorers of the Artic. By collecting small elements present in Nature, he creates his works as installations, photographs, prints and drawings. In his creative process he has always had this great desire to portray his geographic displacement. Through use of uncommon materials and techniques his works address the notion of ephemerality and mankind's efforts to understand and recreate physical and geographical aspects found in natural environments. He is interested in the landscape as a representational system from where man can measure his own world.

Moscheta received his BFA and MFA from the State University of Campinas and was the recipient of numerous grants and awards in Brazil. He has participated in several group shows and recent solo exhibitions in São Paulo, Frankfurt, Lisbon and Milan.

His works are included in Museum collections in Belgium and in the MAM-RJ and Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo in Brazil, and in private collections in the U.S.A., Italy, Russia and Latin America.
Solo exhibitions include NORTE, Paço Imperial do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2012); 8th Mercosul Biennial, Porto Alegre, Brazil (2011); Mare Incongnitum, Centro Universitário Mariantonia, São Paulo, Brazil (2010); and Contra.Céu, Capela do Morumbi, São Paulo, Brazil (2010). Group shows include: 12th Mostra Internacional de Arte, MACUF, La Coruña, Spain (2012); “An Other Place", Galerie Lelong, New York (2011); PIPA Prize 2010, Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2010) and Ponto de Equilíbrio, Instituto Tomie Ohtake, São Paulo, Brazil (2010).

His last artistic residences includes sailing in the High Arctic and walking in the Atacama Desert, crossing all the border extentions between Brazil and Uruguay and in the Galiza region, in Spain as well as Bretagne in France and the Amazon Forest.
