Suk One, Yoon b. 1983 / Dry Flower
about this work

Yoon Suk One has taken roles of an observer and a messenger by capturing moving moments of his experiences and feelings on canvases. In this work, the artist depicts degenerating flowers to convey his view regarding life and death. The artist claims that from its births to death, life in the natural ecosystem is put under various levels of struggle: aging due to atmospheric pressure, climate, gravitation, and microbes, disasters, and desolations mostly provoked by human’s ambitions. The work reflects his compassion for imperturbable composure of plants that take any measure of sacrifice to prolong its life and preserves its own species.
