about this work
Sick of Goodbyes is a series of paintings made on non-conventional supports such as bike helmets, car bonnets and old pieces of wood, which seek to represent the history of life on earth by depicting apparently meaningless scenes settled in the utmost diverse eras and times.

The works show the interior of abandoned contemporary buildings where there are murals of pre-historical life scenes and play with the idea of a juxtaposition between extinctions: not only the species represented in them are extinguished forms of life, but those who had the knowledge and ability to carry out those representations are too. We stand before the end of language: the murals with prehistoric motifs reinforce the feeling of meaninglessness, since the ones who by means of painting could once bring back to present what no longer existed, have themselves ceased to exist.

Sergio Emon –better known as “The Vampire”– is a motorbike and hard-rock fan who used to airbrush his biker friends´ helmets. He is the painter designated by Adrián Villar Rojas to develop the entire 'Sick of Goodbyes' series. Adrián met him by accident in Rosario when he found one of his drawings taped to a window of a bar that Sergio used to visit. Since then The Vampire has been working on this project and, even though he doesnʼt know it yet, he will do so until the end of his life. He will continue to draw the history of life on earth for as long as he lives on earth. The project will finish when his life finishes, when he ceases to exist. The undercover leitmotiv of 'Sick of Goodbyes' is the extinction of the project itself and that of its maker.
